Intro

Just throwing together some info to help people figure out this crazy stuff called electricity. Feel free to contribute or correct any of my many inevitable mistakes.

WARNING: Please do not use this page as a study guide and get pissed at me if the info is wrong.

WTF is PIER?

One of the first things you have to learn, before even looking at a "Power Wheel", is what letters represent the different characteristics of electricity. You would think Amps would be "A". Nope, that would be to easy. Heres how it goes:

P (Power) = Watts
I (Intensity) = Amps
E(Energy) = Volts
R(Resistance) = Resistance

How I remember these:

P = Watts ---- When I was trying to figure out a way to remember P = W, one thing poped in my mind. It stuck pretty quick. I wont spell it out for you, but if you know what p---- whooped is, you'll never forget this one. LOL

I = Amps ---- This ones tricky because Amps is the measurement of Current, so sometimes Amps is represented by "C". So, Current = Intensity = Amps ~~ C.I.A.

E = Volts ----For this one, just think E = V = E ~~ EVE

R = Resistance ----WOW!! a easy one.

If anyone has better mnemonic devices for remembering these, please post. Mine are kinda lame.

Memorizing the "Power Wheel".

Ive broken down the possess of memorizing the "Power Wheel" into a few easy steps to make it easier. Its only 12 formulas, but can be somewhat confusing.

The first step is to memorize the two "Power Triangles". These two Triangles will help you remember the first 6 formulas so if you get them your half way there.

If your not familiar with these, you use them by covering the letter that represents what your looking for.
